The McNaughtons entered the joinery business with the apprenticeship of three brothers in the 1920’s, Max, Jack and Noel. In the 1930’s they struck out on their own by constructing a small workshop at the rear of the family home in Auckland.  After the war the three brothers left the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and they enthusiastically restarted their business, soon relocating it to a newly built factory onMount Roskill, where MJN McNaughton remains located to this day.

In the 1960’s Jack's son Garry, Max's son Ross, and Noel's sons Dennis and Grant, joined the business, increasing the staff to 25, plus three fathers and four sons, all working together smoothly.  Continued expansions were made to the factory, and during the 1970’s the four sons started taking more control of the business, increasing production and further expanding the product line.

These sons continue on with MJN McNaughton to this day, producing a finely crafted and extensive line of joinery products.  Their business is steeped in family tradition, and has always been dedicated to supreme craftsmanship.  The firm has also been very innovative, using proprietary lamination techniques to give their doors and windows an extraordinary level of durability.

MJN McNaughton’s outstanding but cost-effective custom products are made available to customers in Hawaii through NZTrends. MJN McNaughton utilizes only sustainably managed woods, and is FSC certified as being eco-friendly.
